Got up and headed north to Petaluma to attend a new church – New Life Christian Fellowship. It’s a smaller church, but it’s contemporary and everyone is very friendly. We like it, so we think this will be our church while we’re here. Sorry we forgot our camera, so no pictures.

After church we headed back to the coach where we met with our full-timing class ’06 classmates,  Barb & Dave O’Keeffe. They’re staying north of here and drove down to spend the day with us! We chatted  for a bit and then decided to visit a few wineries together. So it was off to Sonoma County!

Our first winery was one of Barb’s favorites – Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery.

We arrived just in time to go on a free tour to learn about it’s history and the process of their wine making.

James, our tour guide, was great!

We enjoyed the tour and then headed to the bar for a wine tasting. Luckily James stuck with us and was our server too! Although there was a $15 charge to wine taste, Barb & Dave covered it for us (thanks :-)). We enjoyed their wines and ended up buying their 2007 Alexander Valley Cabernet.

We wanted to hit one more winery while in Sonoma, so we took the advice of our server ‘James’ from Sebastiani and headed to Roessler Cellars just a few blocks away. They specialize in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines and they had many to sample 🙂

Not only did we have a great server but we were also helped by the actual winemaker,  Scott Shapley! He was awesome, shared his insight, and educated us! It took some time but we narrowed it down to four wines that we liked. From them, we decided on their 2001 Dutton Ranch Russian River Pinot Noir and walked out with two bottles. YUMMY! We will definitely return before leaving this part of Cali.

It was so nice to spend time with friends, taste wines together. Such good company!

We headed back home and parted ways, as Shelly starts work tomorrow.
