Left Cabela’s and drove 158 miles to Far Horizons Tucson Village RV Park in Tucson, AZ. It’s a nice park with paved roads, concrete pad and patio.
We have a small wall around our patio and a nice concrete table with benches inlaid with tile. Nice pool, hot tub, sauna’s, and many different activity rooms in the center of the park.
Once we were settled, we handled a few errands and relaxed the rest of the evening as Shelly starts orientation tomorrow.
Drove 297 miles today to “camp” Cabela’s in Glendale, AZ. It was a beautiful drive south on RT 97 and great to see the giant saguaro cactus again!
After our long drive today, getting permission from the store manager to stay overnight, we decided to walk over to the Cracker Barrel next Cabela’s for dinner. After some good food, we went back the coach to relax for the rest of the evening. On to Tucson tomorrow.
Last day of the rally. Only one seminar we’re attending today. We were only able to stay for half of it though, as we had to go back to our coach to meet Greg (from Trees to These), for an estimate on a new TV conversion. It gave us some ideas and the next time we’re in Decatur, Indiana, we’ll get something done.
We then went to the vendor tents for the last time, as they close at 12:00. Back to the coach for lunch and then to NAPA to pick up a brake light converter for our car. We noticed our right tail light turn signal wasn’t working when hooked up to the coach. Once we got home, Bobby got to work. He was done in under an hour and….SUCCESS!
We relaxed for a bit and then got ready for the Vegas Glitz “goodbye” dinner.
When we arrived, we were greeted by a Vegas showgirl & showman.
The room was nicely decorated and we settled into our table with our Southwest ACA members.
We heard a few speeches by various people and then enjoyed a nice dinner with shrimp and Fillet Mignon. Prize giveaways (Bobby won a new “Big Rigs Best Bets” book) and then a bit of dancing before turning in for the evening.
We had a great time at this rally, finally put faces with names (online), and glad to have all the fixes done to our coach. We would stay here a few extra days past the rally but God blessed us with Shelly’s next assignment in Tuscon and starts Monday, so we have to hurry!
Had a Potluck breakfast with AC owners before heading off to today’s seminars. They lasted until 4PM and then we took the Casino bus over to the Las Vegas “Strip”.
We only had about 3 hours until the last bus left the strip. So we’d have to do some SPEEDY sightseeing. We quickly walked through many of the Casinos on the strip snapping pictures.
We had a NICE (but expensive) dinner at Nobhill Tavern (by Michael Mina) in the MGM Grand. Dinner included JAMON SERRANO, Mac & Cheese made with Truffles, YUM! We also caught the fountain show at The Bellagio.
It’s a shame we didn’t have more time but with the rally and Shelly starting the Tucson assignment Monday, it just wasn’t possible this trip.
After our quick tour of the strip, we caught the bus back home for a much needed nights sleep.
More seminars, interrupted a few times to met people/vendors at the coach. One of these was with Kevin Mallory, to have new chassis batteries installed that we had purchased from Harris Batteries at the rally. Thanks Kevin!
We had the evening off, so Bobby took this opportunity to install our refrigerator fire extinguisher.
Had our early morning on-site appointment with Spartan Chassis. After Bobby described the recent antifreeze leak (which had stopped), they disappeared under the coach. Quickly diagnosed the issue and just as Kevin Mallory had said, a hose fitting just need a couple turns, which only leaked during the very cold days when we where in high elevations . Spartan tightened it up and hopefully that will take care of it. Was GREAT to have Spartan here at the rally to get parts, fix issues and give technical support!
After Spartan left, Shelly signed her first contact with ADEX for the Tucson, AZ assignment and completed the required drug screening. Praise God!
Later we attended seminars with a break for lunch. We also visited the vendor tents and then went back home to change for the Southwestern themed “Welcome” dinner. We had good food, followed by good dancing before turning in for the night.
First day of the rally. Nothing planned until tonight, so lots of socializing. We did buy a refrigerator fire extinguisher (SS-30) from Chip Aiken, fellow American Coach owner & owner of Great RV Products. Expensive but peace of mind with all the refrigerator fires! Bobby will install it later this week when we’re not so busy, LOL!
For dinner, we went to the Monday Night Football party for our free hamburger & beer. We chatted for a bit, but left early, in the first quarter of the game.
